The Poor Slobs Guide On How To Become a Millionaire

A COMMON SENSE GUIDE TO GETTING RICH

Your Money and the Media

Television kills your brain. It is the one of the many devices in your life that contributes to programming you to become a loyal consumer. You do not need it. But if you do feel the compulsion to have one at least have the common sense to do it cheep. There are some real bargains out there where you can find a perfectly good television to watch for a fraction of the cost of a plasma screen TV. Is a plasma screen TV cool? You bet your ass it is. HD television is awesome. But until you are rich it is something that you can afford to live without.

A huge problem for many of us is overcoming the severe handicaps that we have self imposed on ourselves. Because of the way our brains have been rewired, we have the tendency to acquire useless knowledge and senseless experiences that form the basses for not only who we are as people, but who we are as consumers.

There are ways to change, but one again, none of them are easy and often times many of those changes come with emotional and physical pain, which is what prevents us from changing in the first place. It is also what the media and large corporations bank on when force feeding there advertising.

What everyone, your boss, the media, and corporate America are banking on, is that you the individual will produce profit and or buy product. That means that you will probably have to settle for less then what you are actually worth and that means at some point you are going to end up hating life. Hating life is a waste of your life.

For the most part it seems that people seem to tolerating this pretty well. Besides the occasional work place shooting there does not seem to be much resistance to the current marketing and work place formulas that forces us to conform. But scratch the surface, and I know that there are a lot of us out there who would donate a body part for a path to some sort of real independence.

The independence I’m talking about comes at a cost, and you probably already know what that cost is. Assuming that you have set a goal for yourself, which I hope you have by this point. The time has come for you to go about achieving that goal.

The media we consume is not there as a public service. The media has and always will be a profit maker. Television, the internet, and most of the other forms of easily accessed media is there not to help us, it’s there to make money for someone besides you.

How we use the media is what will either make us or break us. Unfortunately, for most of us, we have already been consumed by the media. Like a drug addicted junkie, we must eliminate the amount of media that we consume if there is any hope of becoming self sufficient. That means breaking the habit, and getting the media monkey off our shoulder.

How many hours a day do you spend connected to some sort of media? How many of those hours actually produce a tangible result? For most of us the tangible result is nothing and the time wasted is precious hours that could have been used constructively doing something else

Most of us have a television, computer, cell phone, DVD player, lap tops, music players, ipods, radios, and the list goes on and on that we are constantly hooked into. What we don’t have for all of the time spent connected to these devices is anything constructive to show for it. All we do is spend money to access it, and then get little or nothing in return for the massive investment of money and time.

Remember, you are your own corporation and the time that you waste fucking around with the consumption of media is time lost. If you’re not generating something tangible with the use of your media then get rid of it or at least find a way to minimize the time that you spend with it.

For one week, keep a diary of how much time you spend with your media. That includes watching television, spending time down loading music, organizing media, talking on the cell phone and sitting in front of your computer. Once you have figured out the amount of time that you have wasted, think about what you could have done with that time. I know that I have learned over the years that my time is far too precious to be spending it sitting in front of a device that void of electricity is a useless pile of sh**.
